Demo: “Migration is a Human Right”

Why we are demonstrating:
Society is once again experiencing a shift to the right, which is directed against migrants and refugees. It is important to show that there is broad support for the rights of refugees and an open society. Let us take our solidarity and protest to the streets together.
At EU level, the fundamental right to asylum is being abolished at the moment: asylum procedures are being moved to the EU’s external border, people are ending up in detention camps and more countries are to be declared “safe third countries”. The planned resolutions disregard human rights, make constitutional asylum procedures impossible and serve to deflect responsibility from EU states.
By tightening the law and making populist statements, the German government is aligning itself with the AfD. It is repeating the mistakes of the early 1990s. The reaction to right-wing agitation back then was a fundamental restriction of the right to asylum, accompanied by racist violence, murders and a language of exclusion and dehumanization.
The real problem is not migration, but increasing global injustices, poverty, climate change, social crises and wars. Those who want to abolish human rights for some groups are choosing seemingly simple, racist answers instead of real solutions to complex crises.
We stand up for an open society and demonstrate for human rights-based policies, practical solidarity and a world in which everyone can live well. No human being is illegal. Sea rescue is not a crime.

Invitation to get to know each other and be part of activities against deportations
We say: No more deportations! No matter where to! No to deportation-prisons! No to police violence!
Until now we are around 30 people of self-organized groups and individuals who came together last year to start to organize ourselves for a demonstration against deportation, which will be on the 18.04.2020! After this we want to continue to be active together.
We want to invite you to be part of a network and activities of different people and groups to stop deportations! To get to know each other, exchange experiences, knowledge and ideas we can use the rooms in Centro Sociale (Sternstraße 2 / U-Bahn station Feldstraße) on Saturday 29.02.2020 from 11 am to 5 pm.
So far there is NO fixed program. There are different ideas for the day:

- a room to exchange experiences about deportations
- chai and food I corner to sit and talk
- exchange of ideas, questions, demands and needs for the demonstration on 18.04.2020
- information about different groups
- presentation of „school against deportations“
- performance activity
- workshop/collection and discussion about argumentation against deportations & activities
